Really amazed with this product! I had previously tried creating a comparator mirror after seeing Tim’s Vermeer, but was never satisfied with the base/holder. This solves my issues with the homemade version in terms of a base that solidly holds the mirror and easily manipulated. As someone who creates and 3d prints, I can appreciate the simple and effective 3d printed parts which are high quality.
It’s a skill to use this “tool,” and make no mistake you won’t be an artist if you neither have the critical-thinking or art skills. You need one or the other. It's not purely WYSIWYG as you might be led to believe by Tim's Vermeer. This tool will quickly get you more quality and precision though once you’ve developed a method which you comfortably utilize. Suggestions: moving your head up and down to compare or stereoscopically visualizing your pencil/brush at the edge of the mirror as your approximate movement downward, or blocking shapes with the mirror's guidance.
Really bad ! It doesn’t work!
When I first decided to get a comparator mirror, like many others, I thought about building one myself. But when I saw the VerMirror I knew I couldn't make one myself for that price and quality that fuctioned nearly as well. The vermirror is easy to assemble and easy to adjust.
It works as advertised, all the parts fit correctly and were packaged securely. It was delivered a couple days late but overall it's good, the product itself is quality. It's an interesting and helpful tool.
This thing works exactly as says! It does take a bit of getting used to, but it's a lot of fun to work with! I'm excited to keep practicing. It's so cool that even my first quick, very rough attempt at sketching something was more realistic than anything I've ever drawn before. I got this after watching Tim's Vermeer, and I recommend this mirror to anyone interested in copying the technique used in the documentary.
